Yes—JL Brake Service can consider customer-supplied brake pads, rotors, calipers, and flexible hoses when the parts are correct, suitable, and agreed in advance. Send the vehicle details and photos of the part labels before booking. Buying parts first does not confirm that those parts will fix the symptom.

Already bought parts? Start with the labels.
If you have pads or rotors waiting at home, you can request installation labor rather than a parts-and-labor package. The useful first step is a photo of each box label, including the brand and part number, along with the vehicle's year, make, model, and VIN when available. Mention whether the parts are for the front or rear.
Some vehicles have more than one brake package. A similar-looking rotor or a part listed for the same model year may still be the wrong size or version. Review the parts before the appointment rather than opening everything or dismantling the vehicle to compare them yourself.
What does labor-only brake service cost?
JL's current menu includes labor and one local mobile visit. Replacement parts and applicable tax are separate unless your written quote includes them.
| Service | Labor + local mobile visit |
|---|---|
| Brake pads, one axle | $160 |
| Brake pads, front and rear | $240 |
| Pads and rotors, one axle | $250 |
| Pads and rotors, front and rear | $420 |
One axle means both front wheels or both rear wheels. These are standard service prices, subject to the vehicle, repair, and condition. Rust, broken hardware, specialty procedures, or additional repairs can change the quote; changes are discussed before extra work proceeds.
The $40 upfront payment is part of your approved total. It reserves an accepted appointment and the mobile trip; it is not another $40 added to the menu price. See the brake pad service or pad-and-rotor service page for what the work covers.
What should I send before reserving a time?
- Your year, make, model, and VIN or a plate photo if you want extra fitment help.
- The front or rear axle, or say that you are unsure.
- Clear photos of the part labels and anything already opened or damaged.
- What the vehicle is doing: noise, vibration, pulling, heat, fluid, or a pedal change.
- Your service ZIP and whether the vehicle has a safe off-street work area.
Keep the purchase receipt and ask the seller about its return process. JL still needs to check the actual parts and vehicle before installation. If you have not purchased anything and do not know the cause, start with a brake concern review so the next step follows the symptoms.
What if the parts are wrong or something else is damaged?
Incorrect, damaged, incomplete, or unsuitable parts may be declined, and the appointment may need to be revised. A worn pad can also be accompanied by a damaged rotor or a sticking component. A parts list chosen before inspection does not rule those conditions out.
If the repair changes, Jimmy explains the finding and the revised scope before proceeding. For a hot wheel or uneven wear, the relevant next step may be checking the caliper or flexible hose, rather than installing another set of pads alone.
How do parts and workmanship warranties work?
Ask about the specific written coverage for your quote before booking. A supplier or manufacturer may provide a product warranty, and customer-supplied parts can have different coverage. Do not assume that a parts warranty includes installation labor or a second mobile visit. Any coverage JL offers is documented with its terms; this guide does not create a new warranty. Read the service terms for the current process.
Would having JL source the parts be simpler?
It can be, especially when the brake option or diagnosis is unclear. You can request a quote with parts included and compare that complete total with supplying compatible parts yourself. The goal is to confirm the right repair, fitment, and approved price before the appointment.
A soft or sinking pedal, leaking brake fluid, smoke, or noticeably reduced braking calls for keeping the vehicle parked and arranging safer transportation or towing.
Questions before you book
Can I book labor only if I already bought brake pads?
Yes, when the parts are compatible, suitable for the vehicle and repair, and agreed in advance. Send the vehicle details and part-label photos before booking.
Is the $40 booking payment added to the menu price?
No. The $40 upfront payment counts toward the approved total. Standard menu prices include labor and the local mobile visit; replacement parts are separate unless included in your written quote.
Should I buy a caliper because one wheel gets hot?
A hot wheel does not identify a failed part by itself. Describe the symptom first so the caliper, slides, pads, hose, and related conditions can be considered before parts are ordered.
Have parts ready for installation?
Send the vehicle, symptoms, part-label photos, axle, and ZIP. Jimmy confirms fitment, repair scope, and the full price before booking.
